Splinter at Sydenham International
Splinter will play at Sydenham International at the closing event for:
AZ Music 1970–72 \ 1973–75 \ …ongoing
an exhibition and performance program that maps some of the key moments and figures primarily in the first stage of the wildly dynamic experimental sound group AZ Music. Presenting archival material and new improvisational performances, the project traces practices located in or around AZ music, drawing lines outward to current and emerging practices that share a commitment to experimentation in sound.

Chaika // Broadland Trio "Airs of Places Passed" Album Launch
Two Trailblazers in the Sydney folk fusion scene take the stage at the Newsagency. Broadland Trio to releasing their debut album “Airs of Places Passed”, and veterans Chaika hot on the heals of their 2019 release arrow. A night to Transport you, to move your hearts your minds and your feet.
Splinter Orchestra: Music in the Green
Splinter will make our annual appearance at the Angel Street Permaculture Food Forest, Sunday Oct 27th at midday.
Community Garden Fundraising Day with special guests.
• From 11am, Inner West Seed Savers (IWSS) will have seeds for sale & be there to talk about seed saving.
•We will have plants/seedlings and garden-inspired edibles available for donation sale.
• From 12pm, The Splinter Orchestra will merge into the soundscape of this urban micro forest.
Monique Clare and Joe D’Esposito + Chaika @ Camelot Lounge
A wonder-filled evening with some of Australia’s trailblazers in original folk music as well as a special international guest and two artists Ingrid Bartkowiak and Shay Tobin, creating live alongside the music. There will be pencils and paper available for audience member who might feel inspired to join in too!

Monique Clare and Joe D’Esposito
Monique Clare (The Maes) is joined by American fiddler Joe D’Esposito (The Railsplitters) in a mesmerising collaboration that draws on their diverse influences. Dancing between rhythmic cello lines, powerfully vulnerable vocals and heart-tugging harmonies, Monique Clare is an award-winning cellist and singer-songwriter. Since breaking out as a solo artist in 2017, her songwriting has become increasingly daring and potent, with hard-hitting lyrics and an unconventional brand of classical-folk-pop cello. Joe D’Esposito is a multi-genre fiddle player and improviser with infectious charisma. His work with The Railsplitters has seen him play Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Celtic Connections. This duo brings together a shared classical training, obsession with fiddling traditions and a mutual love of Björk to deliver intricate arrangements of original songs and tunes.

When his wonderful collection of intimate Sydney contemplations appeared on CD via the Hospital Hill label a couple of years back, we started to consider a gig here at the People’s Republic, and we’ve kept hearing about him ever since, so we’re thrilled to announce
